Authentic Heritage Workwear remains in vogue
The way men dressed in the Industrial Age is now more current than ever, and meets perfectly the needs of men today. For this reason, work–wear is the key theme of the "Authentic Heritage" spring/summer collection 2011 from camel ac- tive. In this collection, the focus is on reliability and functionality and, above all, authenticity.
This is because clothing must remain true to its purpose. Thus it creates a striking look pri- marily through the robust, light quality of its materials as well as through subtle detailing. The forms and cuts are shaped to the body, but still guarantee freedom of movement. Mate- rials such as compact cotton, military-inspired weave patterns, canvas, indigo denim, matt nylon and light vintage leather are made to look vibrant, dusty, bleached and even tattered with various treatments and finishes. Uneven surfaces contribute to the worker look by means of varying yarn counts.
Hard, physical work is contrasted with light shades of colour from a single colour group, in order to demonstrate imperfections through wear and tear here too: dirty white, dusty earths and blues and bleached-out light blue are accentuated with coral, sunny yellow, dark green and cyan-blue. The shades of colour are mixed with a touch of Indian workwear inspi- ration: colours that reflect life in the lively streets and spice markets; finishing derived from tools and simple machines in small workshops, and typical Indian patterns such as paisleys or madras checks.
